Gary Andrew Brunts
Gary Andrew Brunts,59, of Callaway, MD formerly from St. Louis, MO, passed away on February 24, 2018. Born on July 24, 1958 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Dorothy Jane Pfaff Brunts and Richard Henry Brunts. Gary was the loving husband of the late Holly Corrine Stewart Brunts, who he married on September 10, 1983 in Virginia Beach, VA and whom preceded him in death on August 21, 2009. Gary is survived by his children; Brian Andrew Brunts of Mechanicsville, MD, Richard Martin Brunts (Rachale Schneider Brunts) of Callaway, MD, and one grandchild. He is survived by his siblings; Linda Horodenski of St. Louis, MO, Wayne Brunts of St. Louis, MO, Mark Brunts of Kansas City, MO, Shanon Brunts of St. Louis, MO, and Bruce Brunts of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his brother Glen Brunts. He graduated from Oakville Senior High School in 1976. He moved to St. Mary’s County, MD in the summer of 1996. Gary was a Senior Chief Petty Officer for the United States Navy from November 10, 1976 till his retirement after 20 years of service on November 30, 1996. While serving in the Navy, he was stationed in Iran, Grenada, and Libya, along with serving in the Desert Storm Gulf War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jerry Gamrot officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Face Catholic Cemetery Great Mills, MD. Pallbearers will be; Brian Brunts, Richard Brunts, Jimmy Weiers, and Billy Midget.
