Guestbook Signatures and Condolences

"OD was always open to a chat when I stopped by his shoe repair shop. We had lengthy conversations regarding hiscraft/trade. He was interested in passing the business to someone but said he had no one interested. He will be missed by many grateful customers. He always did fine work and was nice to talk with. I hope your family is comforted knowing OD is with his Father in Heaven. My prayers are for your continued healing."

"We extend our thoughts, prayers and sympathy, at this time, to O.D.'s family and friends. We have enjoyed a friendship with him, for almost 30 years, not only as business neighbors but as customers & acquaintance. Despite circumstances that were not always pleasant or fair, O.D. always made the best of the situation and make life as good as possible for those he served. It was a pleasure to be greeted with his smile when we entered the Shoe Repair Shop, where his skills were certainly much appreciated. (He has repaired many shoes & boots, handbags, briefcase, suitcases, & belts--and as he polished them, when you came to pick them up, he'd smile and ask if that was how you wanted it and say, "look we can make it good as new".) Once he stopped his work and stitched a pair of shoes for me to wear to an out of state funeral while we ran to finish details at the PO and bank. He will be greatly missed, as his life on this earth has come to a close. As O.D. often asked, "do you know anyone who would like to learn shoe repair, I can't be here forever, you know?" "

"My deepest condolence's on the passing of O.D. I was a long-time customer who used to enjoy our conversations each time I'd come in to his shop. He treated everyone with respect, and asked for little in return. He was also part of a dying breed of craftsmen, practicing a trade that seems headed for extinction. My thoughts and prayers are with you, O.D. You will me missed."
