A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.

Visitation:

 

Viewing/Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM.

 

Agnes “Lucille” Wood, 80, of Mechanicsville, MD died August 28, 2008 in St. Mary’s Hospital. Born April 16, 1928 in Loveville, MD she was the daughter of the late Joseph Gervase and Mary Agnes Nelson Thompson. She was the loving wife of the late William S. Wood, Sr. who preceded her death on October 1, 1998 in Mechanicsville, MD. She is survived by her sons: William S. Wood, Jr. and Richard C. Wood both of Mechanicsville, MD and Gerald L. Wood of Atlanta, GA; siblings: Leonard Thompson of Loveville, MD and Dolly Latham of Chaptico, MD; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Albert Thompson, Marie Thompson, Mary Alice Thompson, Rose Thompson, Joseph G. Thompson, Jr. and June Thompson. Lucille was a lifelong St. Mary’s County resident where she graduated from Margaret Brent High School Class of 1945. She was a printing specialist for Patuxent River Federal Government for 36 years until her retirement in 1982. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be: Lenny Thompson, David Thompson, Jimmy Latham, Wayne Wood, Lenny Wood and Dale Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Brittany Wood, Kayla Wood and Lindsay Wood.
