A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 6:00-7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel.
  Jean Elizabeth “Jeannie” Thomas, 56, of La Plata, MD and formerly Avenue, MD died on June 30, 2009 in the Genesis La Plata Center. Born January 3, 1953 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Bruce and Mary Ethel Ellis Thomas, Sr. She is survived by her children Tammy Goldsborough, of California, MD, Joseph Abell of Lexington Park, MD and Mary Abell of Bel Alton, MD; her grandchildren Shirley Goldsborough, Marty Goldsborough and Christopher Smith as well as her siblings; James Bruce Thomas Jr. of Avenue, MD, Peggy Stauffer of Colton’s Point, MD, Andrew Dale Thomas of Fort McCoy, FL and Bobby Thomas of Avenue, MD. She is also survived by her niece Dawn Wallace (Calvin) and a host other nieces and nephews. Jean graduated from Leonardtown High School and moved to Charles County from St. Mary’s County in 2005. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her loving family and was a big fan of television actor George Lopez whom she had received gifts from. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 6:00-7:00 PM in the Mattingely-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 415 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201
