"Dad, Today is the last day you will be with us. You are, now, on your well deserved journey. Justin just handed me the picture of you and I, of the last fish you took home and shared with your friends..................a 30 lb. rock fish. You went out in style dad. The next time we see each other, I, will say for the final time.........THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING MY DAD......and we will all be together forever. Love, Mike"

"Dear Mrs Mattingly and family, I am the person you always called Mr. Mattingly's guardian angel. I was the one who came the day you were having a yard sale and Mr. Mattingly was on a ladder getting leaves out of the guttering. The ladder slipped and he was hanging on when I arrived. You and I managed to get another ladder and put up to the roof so Mr. Mattingly could move over to that ladder and came down to safety. God was with us, but you never forgot it and always called me your guardian angel. I felt we bonded that day in a special friendship. Now Mr. Mattingly is your special guardian angel. God be with you and your family. Your good friend, Mary Ann"

"Mr. Mattingly was a very nice man. I went to see him at St. Mary's Nursing Center today only to find he had gone to Heaven on Tuesday. At one point my father had shared a room with him there and he was always so kind to me. I was very sad to here of his passing and offer my sincere condolence to his wife and children. He always spoke of his love for you all. My prayers are with you and with him at this time. God Bless. "
