"My family called to advise me of your loss. Miles and years never change the way a person feels about people who were family, once upon a time; especially when you know they are hurting so badly. No one can tell you how to handle this loss, you have experienced it before just as I have and we somehow pick ourselves up and those around us who also loved the one we have lost and we live on, the best way we know how. Vicki, although I don't know you personaly, please know that my message is as much to you as to Tom, Lynn, Robbie and Tom Sr. I am certain Mary and his little brother welcomed Travis in to heaven, where they are waiting and still loving all of you just as you love them. Peace and Love always." - Pat Bailey Leslie - Posted: Thursday, November 5, 2009

"To the Cross Family:
When death comes without warning, the disbelief and shock can be devasting. It's just not the natural order for a child to die before his parents and it is even more intense when the death is sudden and there is no chance to prepare; resolve misunderstandings, or say good-bye. In an instant life is changed forever and only time will allow the reality of what has happened to sink in. Lots of parents are overridden with guilt about what might have been done to prevent the death, and the what if's and if only's are only normal, but eventually, the need to blame oneself will move on to a level of acceptance that many tragedies in life are not preventable or foreseeable.
While complete recovery from losing a child is a myth, the healing process slowly changes the intense pain to warm memories and a commitment to lead a life that would make Travis proud. We didn't know Travis, but Skip was a Master Barber back in the 1960's with
Tom Cross, Sr. at the Leonardtown Barber Shop.
Travis will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends. May God bless the Cross Family.

"I did not personally know Travis however, two of my children did. Sadie my daughter is a Chopticon class of "2010" student who has known Travis since middle school. She has happy memories of Travis being a very kind person and speaking of his pets. My son Perry who just started high school was saddened to hear of Travis's death because Travis made him feel comfortable starting high school, going out of his way to talk to him. I as a mom feel such saddness for the family and friends of this young man who obviously lost a kind and gentle son, friend, and classmate. Praying for all." - Kathy, Sadie, and Perry Gallion - Posted: Monday, November 2, 2009

"Travis was an amazing person. He had a wonderful eyes, a beautiful smile, and a great personality. He would always be there for you no matter what. If you needed him, he would drop whatever it was that he was doing to help you. I am going to miss seeing his smile, hearing his laugh and voice, i am just going to miss him in general. I know we will see each other again, but until we do hold the place down hunny. I love you Travis Alexander Cross forever and always<333" - Lizzi Morgan - Posted: Sunday, November 1, 2009

"Everyone who loves Travis and knows what a beautiful person he is needs to know that pain is just as strong in every one of you and it helps to focus on the times when he was here. Everyone grieves in their own time and their own way; no one is wrong. Let reality come in at your own pace. Sometimes it will rush and overwhelm you; other times you will have a break and can enjoy his smiles and good times. Although I wasn't I didn't know Travis, I've been challenged by so many losses, the last was too recent; but I can tell how Travis made this world a better place while he was here. Thank God we had him for such a short time. I thank his parents and true friends for sharing him with the world. " - Another Caring Mama - Posted: Sunday, November 1, 2009

"My memories of Travis are all of him with a smile on his face - checking on the welfare of a neighbor, stopping for a chat, out working in the yard with Blackie, or riding down the street to have an adventure in the woods. Travis was a wonderful person, someone I always looked for on my way in or out of the street. I will miss his smile and wave every day. I hope that knowing how much Travis touched everyone he met, from neighbor to stranger, brings the Cross family peace. My thoughts are with you." - Sarah Guy - Posted: Saturday, October 31, 2009

"I didn't personally know Travis, but when I asked my son Tony if he knew him he said he did, he said he helped him with work he had a hard time with from sixth grade to eight grade, and he wouldn't have passed without his help. I too have experienced the loss of a child and there are no words to describe the feelings, the only thing you can do is just lean on your family. Our family's thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. And isn't it nice to know that Travis was a wonderful boy that was willing to help other students.
