" Dear Mr. and Mrs. Standish and Brother David,
I cannot express the shock and sadness I feel about Steve's passing. I knew Steve because I was on his bowling team, with Lynn and her brother Mike.
Steve was a awesome person. He exuded a perfect blend of a good "poker face" and a patient heart of gold. I spent many times with him , at bowling and several times, we would just hang out together.
I cared deeply for him. I lost touch with Steve when I had to quit bowling, mid season, to take care of my mother who was dying of cancer, but I still would run into to Steve and we would talk like I had just seen him yesterday.
I know , from losing my mom that you will go through many stages of grief. Although this is one of the most difficult times of your life, try to remember he is still sitting right beside you, loving you and guiding you. Whether you believe or not ,you will see signs from him and he will make you a believer. Take comfort in these signs and in your memories of Steve.
I know if ANYONE would be deemed a guardian angel, it would be Steve.
I will never ever forget him.
He and your family will reside in my prayers.

"Steve was so much fun to play cards with, and such a gentle nature, never getting too angry at bad beats or bad characters, one day he said "I'm hungry, I'm going to run home and make myself a sandwhich, hold my seat, I'll be right back." I said jokingly "yah, me too Steve!" He can back a short time later with a whole tray of delicious sandwhiches for the entire table, I was impressed and grateful. He was just that kind of guy. He will surely be missed. It was a priviledge to have know him. So sorry for your loss, best wishes and fond memories."
