Obituary for Kevin Connor Igoe

Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Fr. Timothy Baer officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.
Visitation:
Viewing/Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM.
Kevin Connor Igoe, 51 of Mechanicsville, MD died March 7, 2009 at his residence. Born September 11, 1957 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of Kathleen Igoe of Central Islip, NY and the late Owen J. Igoe. He was the loving husband of Pamela Cecelia Igoe whom he married on July 19, 1980 in lake Silkworth, PA. He is also survived by his children Megan Igoe of Hamden, CT and Courtney Igoe of Mechanicsville, MD as well as his siblings; Laura Healy and her husband Mickey of Mastic, NY, Theresa McCurry and her husband Steven of Mastic, NY and Dennis Igoe and his wife Christine of Woodridge, IL. Kevin graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip, NY “Class of 1975” and obtained a BA degree in elementary education and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA “Class of 1979”. He moved to St. Mary’s County in August of 1979 from Central Islip, NY and was an administrator for the St. Mary’s County Public School for thirty years. Kevin was an elementary teacher for seventeen years with St. Mary’s County public schools and for the last thirteen years he has served as an assistant principal at Hollywood Elementary and Park Hall Elementary as well as a pupil personnel worker and principal of White Marsh Elementary. He enjoyed reading, fishing and traveling to the Outer Banks with family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Fr. Timothy Baer officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be Dennis Igoe, Mickey Healy, Paul Piatt, Christopher Piatt, Sr., Talley Brown and Phillip Batts. Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Healy, Chris Piatt, Jr. and Sean Healy. Contributions may be made to The Kevin Igoe Future Educator Scholarship Fund, White Marsh Elementary School, C/O White Marsh PTA, 29090 Thompson’s Corner Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.
