Condolence: GOODBYE Saying good-bye from a distance is hard. My memories about my uncle Jim Bunny go back to when I was a very little girl- One of my first memories of him was playing the harmonica and guitar at the same time- As a child, I loved the music; as an adult who struggled through six years of twice weekly piano lessons as a kid, I am amazed at this man's God given talent. He could light up a room with his music and could not read a note. He played completely by ear and heart. Another vivid memory was when I was very young he told me he was an Indian Chief and for a very long time I believed him often wondering where he kept his headdress! I think back to all the Christmases, Easters, picnics at Hayes Beach and Oakwood Lodge, crabbing at the Point, baseball games and every family occasion to be celebrated or mourned and his face is one that was always there. As we have lost each of those that began this family unit each sweet memory become more and more precious to those of us left on this side. I remember when it snowed Jim Bunny bringing his little family to our house to stay and be safe while he would go out and drove that snow plow day and night to clear our county's roads and coming back dog tired to get his wife and sweet babies; scooping them all up to go home. When it was tobacco cutting time Jim Bunny would just show up and pick up the knife to cut not expecting anything but a "cold one" at the end of the day. One of the last occasions I saw my uncle was at his daughter's retirement party. The pride that man felt that day was unmistakable. Not a surprise, as his pride in his family and the home he had given them was unquestionable. It didn't sound like the last days of life were easy but he met it head on making hard decisions in his own way and being supported by those who loved him. He is leaving this world a rich man. He may not have hit it big with scratch offs but in life he absolutely did. He understood the simple things in life counted most. No one didn't love Uncle Jim Bunny. So, good-bye for now dear uncle. You are a wonderful chapter in our family history. Until we see you again you will be greatly missed and you will forever be in our hearts.
