Obituary for Thomas Aubrey "Tom" Combs, Jr.

Thomas “Tom” Aubrey Combs, Jr. died February 3, 2019. Born May 11, 1951 he was 67. He is remembered by his friends as always being willing to help out a neighbor, friend, or stranger. Born in Baltimore, Tom spent most of his life in St. Mary's County where the Combs family first established in the late 1600s. At the time of his death he was residing in California, MD. He is survived by his son Randy Thomas Combs and Hannah of Denton, MD, grandchildren Conner and Maddison Combs, sisters Mary C. Nye and George of Millersville and Carol S. Paulson of Brenham, TX and many nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets Maggie and Gidget. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Aubrey Combs, Sr. and mother Mary C. Wiley Combs.
A graduate of Catonsville High School, Tom enlisted in the Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He was an aviation and heavy equipment mechanic by trade and after retiring from the state of Maryland BWI airport continued to do small engine repair and restoration projects.

A lover of the outdoors, Tom shared time with his family fishing and camping. Through many life experiences Tom learned to live by the Serenity Prayer and tried often to share the knowledge he had gained with others. He was very much loved by those he knew. He will be remembered for his great laugh and sense of humor.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD, where a Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Ammon Ripple officiating. Interment will be private.
