Obituary for Robert Michael "Bob" Mattingly

Robert Michael Mattingly, “Bob”, 69, of California, MD formerly from Leonardtown, MD passed away on June 26, 2019 at his home. Bob was born on July 12, 1949 and was the son of Margaret Irene Dixon of Leonardtown, MD and the late Joseph Harry Mattingly. And sisters Lois Tennyson of Bushwood, MD and Mary Douglas of Leonardtown, MD. Bob was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1967.

Bob served in the United States Navy for 5 years, from January 19, 1971 to August 4, 1976. While serving in the United States Navy he attended Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL. Hospital Corps School in San Diego, CA, Operating Technician Class C School in Portsmouth, VA. He served on the USS. Saratoga (CV-60). Bob earned the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Bob was a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Calvert Memorial Hospital until his illness would not allow him to work in 2016, he was employed for 18 years. He played the guitar beautifully (self-taught), and loved golf.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 5:00PM to 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel Leonardtown, MD. Interment will be private.
