Although I intially and briefly met P.J. And Sharon as members of your family, it was not until I met Richard that my feelings for life in St. Marys County began to change. While working one day, this 16 year old teenage boy approached me and began a conversation. He invited me to stop some time by his house to meet his Mom and Dad and the rest of his family.
Being from Pennsylvania, I had no family of my own in Maryland and had very few friends other than a couple of co-workers. St. Marys County did not feel like a home to me. However, after being introduced to the rest of your family, things changed. The lunches, the holiday cookout invites, and some movie nights made me feel like St. Marys was becoming a home. Your family became my very first extended family and I will be forever grateful for that and the day I met Richard.
Although I have only seen Richard a couple times over the later years, we did keep in touch with phone calls and text messages. I will miss all of those funny texts and pictures he sent and the conversations we had.
The days ahead will be difficult but remember this saying, “ When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.”
Now, all his pain and suffering has ended. He will forever rest in peace.
