Condolences

Condolence From: Tamara D. Barnes
Condolence: Matt and Shirley,

There are no adequate words to tell you how very sorry I am for your loss.

I pray that God will comfort you and give you peace and strength as He guides you through this time.

Uncle Steve was an inspiration to many who cherish his memory. I count myself among those and mourn with you.

Goodbye, Uncle Steve, I miss you.

Love,
Tammy

Condolence: Shirley and Matt,
I was so blessed to be able to work with Steve for the last nine years. He inspired excellence and always delivered quality with a focus on how best to support the end user. I was his counterpart on the Boeing Team and miss him greatly. I admired his patience and persistence. He was kind and courteous. He was a leader.

Condolence: Shirley and Matt sorry for your loss.
My thoughts about Steve are wide ranging. I enjoyed watching him throw questions at nieces and nephews forcing them to think about issues in a different way.
After we moved to the farm in Georgia, he would come for the weekend. Dressed in overalls, red bandana, and straw hat, he climbed on an old red tractor and spent the day mowing. Always stuck a cigar in his mouth. Never did know if he lit the cigar. Solved problems round after round.
Things that would upset him: removing the center of a cinnamon roll he was getting ready to eat --he judged it to be the best part.
Adding a dash of Crown Royal to Chocolate Chip cookies was considered a colossal waste of C.R.
I admired his wit, humor and loyalty. He believed rules were there for a reason and should be adhered to. CDR. Melanie Marr, a niece, summed him up in this way: "He was the silent backbone that everyone depended on, most probably didn't even recognize the Herculean work he did behind the scenes to make the mission successful". True for his military and civilian careers.

Condolence: Steve...clearly this was not how your retirement was supposed to go... you fought the nemesis with all that you had. As you watch over Shirley and Matt from above, know that we will be your “feet on the ground”. Know that you are loved. “Stephen-fetchit” I miss you so much already. So it’s so long until we meet again. And you get to explain to mom that it was YOU that lined peas under the kitchen table. Just saying...Love you brother.
