James Edward ""Jim"" Gill, Jr.
James “Jim” Edward Gill, Jr.,72of California, MD formerly from Boston, MA passed away on March 19, 2021 in Clinton, MD. He was born on September 17, 1948 in Boston, MA and was the son of the late Mary Corrine “Dolly Drennan Gill and James Edward Gill, Sr. Jim was the loving husband of Hilary June Gill, whom he married on June 2, 2012 in Trinity Church St Mary’s City, MD. Jim is survived by his children Jocelyn Gill Fitzgibbons of North Andover, MA, James M. Gill of North Andover, MA, Step children Stephanie Allers of California, MD, Travis Allers of Lexington Park, MD, 2 grandchildren and 1 step grandchild. Along with his siblings Roberta Ward (Thomas) of Woodbury, NJ and Michael Gill(Carol) of Wakefield, MA.
He graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston, MA in 1966. Jim graduated from Northereastern University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
He moved from Boston, MA to St. Mary’s County, MD in 1971.
Jim worked as a civilian employee of the navy from 1971 to 2009, for 38 years. Most recently he worked part time as a contractor for PAE Systems as a contractor from 2009 to February 2021 for 12 years.
Jim enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, drinking fine wine and eating too many potato chips.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Lexington Park, MD with Father Marco Shad officiating. Interment will be for family only in Trinity Episcopal Cemetery St. Mary’s City, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Gill, Sean Gill, Thomas Ward, Thomas Gill, Jimmy Gill, and Travis Allers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roberta Ward, Carol Gill, Katie Garatolo, Jocelyn Gill-Fitzgibbons, Emily Ward, and Bridget Waggoner.
