Obituary for Kenneth Andrew Guy

Kenneth Andrew Guy, 79, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born on February 23, 1943 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late Warren James Guy, Sr. and Helen Francis Guy. Kenneth is survived by his siblings Barbara Dotson (Wayne) of Mechanicsville, MD, Ella Tennyson (Charles “Wise”) of Scotland, MD, Ernest Francis Guy (Charlotte) of Leonardtown, MD, Robert Michael Guy (Betty) of Bushwood, MD, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Joyce Ann Hammett, Mary Paula Thompson, and Warren James Guy, Jr.

Kenneth was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and grew up on the family farm with his brothers and sisters. He was a quiet and happy person who had a strong Catholic faith. He loved being a farmer who raised tobacco, wheat, corn, and soy beans. Kenneth also enjoyed raising a large assortment of vegetables and fruit and nut trees; strawberries were his favorite. He also had an interest in hunting, crabbing, and fishing. Kenneth loved a good cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast to start his day. Even though Kenneth never married, he spent quality time with his nieces and nephews, as they were a source of pride for him. His best times were various birthday celebrations and gatherings where he could visit and converse with family and friends. Some of his proudest moments were when the family won the Grand Championships on their tobacco samples at the County and State Fairs during the mid-to-late 1960s.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Tennyson, Kevin Thompson, Ernest “Francis” Guy, Jr., Matt Hammett, Christopher Guy, and Brian Guy.

All services and interment will be private.
