Obituary for Raynold W. "Big Ray" Miller, Jr.

Raynold W. Miller, Jr. (Big Ray) entered into eternal rest on April 9, 2022. Born on January 22, 1963, in Medina, New York to the late Raynold W. Miller, Sr and Irene Chase Miller. He is survived by his brother, Daniel (Lisa) Miller of Albion, New York, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Uncle Wally who helped to raise him.

Big Ray was a Lifetime member of the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, the Albion Emergency Squad, and a member of the Albion Fireflies Drill Team. He was a member of the Western New York State Firemen’s Association. Big Ray received an award for two-time overall training hours for Orleans County. He was Chief mechanic for 13 years for Emergency Squad which was caring for the Hurst tools, boat, and truck/ambulance.

Big Ray moved to Hollywood, MD when he accepted a position as Equipment Operator with the State Highway Administration, where he continued to work until his retirement.

He was an associate member of the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department.

Big Ray enjoyed playing Bingo throughout the Tri-County area. You often seen him with his friend “Puddin” on their way to a Bingo game. You could often find him in the parking lot of the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department polishing his truck.

Big Ray also enjoyed going to the many races with his good friend Mike, watching Mike’s daughter Mattie racing her diesel dragster. He always made sure it was bright and shiny for her to race. He also enjoyed racing himself.

Big Ray was several people’s personal “Uber” before “Uber” was invented.

A celebration of life will be held on May 2, 2022, at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall from 11: 00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in remembrance of Big Ray!
