Condolence: Fate brought us together when you were 18 and I was 21. We found comfort in each other’s company and began our journey of a 50-year friendship that I will forever cherish. The dreams we had for each other did not include you leaving us at such an early period in our lives. So many memories – the good, the bad, the ugly but somehow together we got through all of those, each time making us stronger women and encouraging us to reach for the stars. We would spend every weekend together -- at the beach, going to drive-in movies (with a bit of ‘juice’ to get us through the night), bar hopping on Friday nights, demonstrating on the streets of Washington for Roe vs Wade and May Day or just hanging out. We further bonded when we were fortunate to be working together in the same office at the VA headquarters. I took you under my wing and you flourished to a brilliant career in the federal work force. We cried together but we also laughed more and it is those special memories that I hope will help ease the pain of losing you. I’ll always remember your smile like no other, your infectious laughter and your innate ability to retell stories of our adventures through life, always relating them as you used to say with “a bit of color” to make them more interesting. Wherever you are, my friend, I know you’re now smiling and your heart is no longer holding you back from enjoying your surroundings. Give Bobby a hug for me and keep watching over your incredible husband, Wayne, and your precious granddaughter, Kaelyn. Until we meet again – With all the love in my heart.
