Obituary for Dominick James Lungaro

Dominick James Lungaro, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD with family by his side. He was born December 7, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to Peter and Angeline (Molle) Lungaro.

Dominick grew up in Chicago, Illinois and was a member of the Catholic church. He was a reservist in the Army National Guard and attended the Illinois Institute of Technology becoming an architect. He primarily worked on and led many large hospital and school projects until he retired in 1997. He spent most of his career in West Michigan where he and his then wife Roberta Vandenbelt raised their two daughters. After retirement, Dominick enjoyed painting, building model ships and doll houses for his grandchildren, and doing puzzles, including his daily crossword and Sudoku puzzle books. Dominick will always be remembered for his positive attitude and devout love of his family.

Dominick is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Larisa Bedgood of Wesley Chapel, FL; and Krista Duggan (Terry Duggan) of California, MD; grandchildren Cierrah Bedgood, Skylar Hogan, Keaton Hogan and Braedan Duggan as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson Brendan Hogan; grandson Javin Bedgood; parents, Peter and Angeline (Molle) Lungaro; sister, Helen Spaniel; sister, Jeanette Zagata; sister, Frances Fisher; and brother, Anthony Lungaro.
Dominick will be laid to rest this summer at the Spring Lake Cemetery in Michigan beside his grandson Brendan Hogan. No date has been decided on yet but will be shared with friends and family when plans have been made.
