Obituary for Charles Franklin Evans, Sr.
Charles Franklin Evans Sr. was born in Mechanicsville, MD, on December 31, 1938. His Parents George Aloysius Evans and Bertha Estell Adams both of Mechanicsville Md. Like many young men he spent a lot of time helping on the family farm. T Tobacco being the main crop. Charles had a lot of help with his sisters Janet and Jean and older brother Johnny.
Charles then went on to serve in the Army National Guard of Maryland from 1956-1959 completing his sharpshooter qualification May 25, 1958. He then moved on to the Army Reserve for an additional 5 years. Charles received an honorable discharge from both Ending January 31, 1964.
Charles continued his life of service working as an automotive mechanic for the State Police moving up to service Supervisor by the time of his retirement, February 1, 1996.
Charles had one true love, and that was the Fire Department to which he served 35 years., Driving Engines and Fighting Fires, for the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Dept. Winning many awards of which was the Firefighter of the Year in 1989. Charles received call alerts on his personal phone, all the way up to his passing.
Charles Franklin Evans Sr. passed at the hospice house in Callaway, MD , on May 16, 2023 at 1:32 pm.
Charles is Survived by his children: Son- Charles F. Evans Jr. his wife Mary Ellen and daughters Katie and Emily. Daughter Donna M Wockenfuss, her husband Bill and her children Billy, Elizabeth, and Hailey. Son Bobby A. Evans and his wife Frannie his children Steven, Robbie, Maggie, and Lizzy. and Son Steven P. Evans and his wife (Angel in Heaven) Karen and their sons Jackson and Hunter.
Charles lived a life of service and lived it his way. He had a special bond with his Nephew Christopher Oliver and Wife Ammie Oliver. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.
