Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM in St. Luke's U.A.M.E. Church with Rev. Rudy Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 from 9:30 - 11 AM in St. Luke's U.A.M.E. Church. Floyd Edward Clayton, Sr., 81, of Piney Point, MD died April 26, 2007 in St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Born March 1, 1926 in St. Mary's County, MD he was the son of the late Ross Edward and Hattie Mae Blackwell Clayton. He was the beloved husband of Ann Elizabeth Lawrence Clayton whom he married on May 16, 1945 in Holy Face Church. He is survived by his children Theresa Price of Mechanicsville, MD, Lois Clayton of Loveville, MD, Floyd Edward Clayton, Jr. of Piney Point, MD and John Clayton of Mechanicsville, MD, siblings; Catherine Travers of St. George Island, Ralph Clayton Sr. of Piney Point, MD and Betty Mason of Valley Lee, MD, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. A lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, Floyd worked as a waterman for Stewart Petroleum Company for 29 years, retiring in 1988. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1944- 1946. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 from 9:30-11:00 AM in St. Lukes' UAME Church, Piney Point, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Rudy Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke's UAME Church Cemetery, St. George's Island, MD. Pallbearers will be Ralph Clayton Jr., Steven Mason, Gerald Blackwell, Daryl Blackwell, James Price and Larvelle Herbert. Honorary pallbearers will be William Blackwell, Stephen Ross Clayton Bennett, Troy Herbert and Wayne Blackwell.
