A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 10, 2006 at 10AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Morganza, MD with Fr. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.

Viewing and Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2006 from 9AM till 10AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Morganza MD.
Joyce Marie Nelson, 49, of Mechanicsville, MD died March 6, 2006 in St. Mary's Hospital. Born September 25, 1956 in Morganza, MD she was the daughter of Joseph Aloysius Nelson and the late Sarah Regina Smith Nelson. She is survived by her children Robert Henry Short of Mechancisville, MD and his companion Jessica Taylor of Calvert County, MD and Linda Marie Short and her companion Dwayne Young of Mechancisville, MD; brothers and sisters Joseph Leroy Nelson, Mary Cecelia Nelson and William Nelson and his wife Linda all of Lexington Park, MD, James Nelson and his wife Judy, Agnes Courtney and her husband Alan, and Paul Ignatius Nelson all of Mechanicsville, MD, Bernard Nelson and his wife Cheryl of Leonardtown, MD; 5 grandchildren, Davonna "Muffy" Young, Marketta Dorsey, Nakia Short, Jawan Short and AMayia Short. She is also survived by a host of aunts and uncles. Ms. Nelson was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident where she was a graduate of Chopticon High School and attended Charles County Community College. She enjoyed spending time with children, friends and family. A special thanks to Chonte Sommerville and everyone for their donations and support. The family will receive friends Friday, March 10, 2006 from 9:00 â?? 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Morganza, MD, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM with Father Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Courtney, Sr., Carl Jordan, Floyd Short, Mack Courtney, Mike Courtney, and Rodney Short. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Nelson, Demetrius Nelson and Moe Courtney. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A.
