A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
Viewing/Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM.
Arthur Edward Grogan, 90, of Avenue, MD died September 10, 2006 in St. Mary's Hospital. Born October 22, 1915 in Greensboro, MD he was the son of the late George Arthur and Bertha Akers Grogan. He was the husband of Lois Morris whom he married on April 7, 1991 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bushwood, MD. He is survived by one nephew Michael Grogan of Laurel, MD; three nieces: Patricia Gaunce and Joann Crawford both of Laurel, MD and Barbara Lee Harris of Gaithersburg, MD; sister in-law: Laura Grogan; 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his step daughter: Joyce Dunbar; siblings: Joseph Archie, Anna Sipple, David Ford, Robert Walker, Wilbur Arthur, Winder Lee, John William and Mary Stewart Griffiths. Mr. Grogan was employed at Sears Roebuck & Company in Washington, DC for 20 years until he opened a home improvement business from which he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Elks Club #589 in Clinton, MD and a member of American Legion Post 221 in Avenue, MD. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1934 â?? 1937 and then re-inlisted in the U.S. Army from December 24, 1942 â?? February 7, 1946 as a staff sergeant for the 35th Army Air Force The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with Prayers being said at 7:00 PM.
