Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 10:00 AM in St. Georges Catholic Church in Valley Lee, MD with Fr. Mark Ervin officating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation: The family will recieve friends Wednesday, October 25, 2006 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A. Darlene Marie Johnson Koehler, 47, of Leonardtown, MD passed away peacefully on October 21, 2006 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 17, 1958 in Leonardtown, MD to Charles "Bert" Johnson and Mary Ellen Stone Johnson. Darlene was preceded in death by her grandparents Elizabeth Ann Bean Stone, Elmer Aloysius Stone, Mary Rosalie Cooper Johnson and James Ernest Johnson. Darlene graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1976. After high school, she pursued a career in nursing and attended the Hannah Harrison School of Nursing. After earning her LPN, she began working at St. Mary's Hospital. Darlene Later had the good fortune to find a position with Doctor J. Roy Guyther, where she enjoyed the opportunity it make a real difference in peoples lives. Darlene married her beloved husband, Michael Koehler, on April 29, 1978, at St. Aloysius Church, Leonardtown, MD. They are natives of St. Mary's County and enjoyed twenty eight happy years together. When Darlene and Mike began their family, she was excited to be able to be a stay-at-home mom and wife. They have raised two wonderful children, Jeffrey Michael and Julie Anne. Darlene enjoyed crabbing, swimming, being a room mother and volunteering in her children's schools, but her true passion was her husband, children, and family. Darlene's sense of humor and compassion touched many lives. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. She is also survived by three sisters, Beverly Jackson and her husband Joe; Priscilla Cathcart and her husband Chuck; and Mary Grable and her husband Chris; all of Leonardtown, MD. Darlene was preceded in death by her loving mother-in-law, Catherine Leah Bradburn Koehler. She is survived by her devoted father-in-law, Harry Michael Koehler of Piney Point; sister-in-law, Charlene Koehler Forrest and her husband Louis K. "Sonney" Forrest of Solomons. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 from 5:00-8:00 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. Cathcart, Chris A. Grable II and L. Dennis Grable II. An Honorary pallbearer will be Darlene's niece, Sherry L. Jackson Mehl.
