Services:
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 1, 2004 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD, with Rev. Francis J. Early officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
Public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, October 31, 2004 from 2 - 5 PM with prayers being said at 3:00 PM.
James Aloysius "Al" Dean, 76, of Clements, MD died October 27, 2004 in Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. Born March 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Agnes Loretta Hall and James Levi Dean. He was the husband of the late Mary Helen Burroughs Dean whom he married on September 20, 1952 in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Washington, DC. He is survived by his children, Linda Drury and her husband, Robbie of Leonardtown, MD; Cindy Brunner and her husband, Rick of Spring, TX; and Glenn Dean and his wife, Lisa of Clements, MD. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and his sisters, Sue Gibson of Bushwood, MD, Sylvia Lacey of Chaptico, MD, and brothers, Lenox Dean of Clements, MD and Bert Dean of Bushwood, MD. Mr. Dean was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County where he attended St. Mary's Academy in Leonardtown, MD. He was self-employed as a farmer. The family received friends at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home on Sunday, October 31, 2004 and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, November 1, 2004 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bushwood, MD with Father Francis J. Early officiating. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Dean were J. D. Lacey, Joey Dean, Mike Dean, Jamie Dean, Ricky Dean and Ryan Drury. Honorary pallbearers were Blair Anderson, Bobby Anderson, Russ Cullins, Jackson Hall, Kenny King, Tucker Lacey, J. F. Long, James B. Norris, Matthew Quade, Joseph Butler and Luther Wolf. Contributions may be made to the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 7, Avenue, MD 20609.
