Robert Dellie "Bob" Norris, 73 of Leonardtown died August 21, 2004 in Leonardtown. Born June 30, 1931 in Leonardtown, MD he was son of the late Mary Lucille Norris and Herbert Eugene Norris. He is survived by his children; Catherine, Sandra, Diane, Michael, Mary, Dorothy and Ethel; Grandchildren; Casey, Aaron, Dale, Rusty, Lori, Michael, Kimberly, Italo, Sarah, Kelly, Charlie, Jessica, Stephen, Tony, Tristen and Emily; Great- Grandchildren; Hailey, Amanda, Samantha and Hunter. He is also survived by his sisters; Virginia, Frances, Mary and Marie, brothers; Gene, Elmer and Benny. And will be met by those who have gone before him, his father Herbert; mother Lucille; sister Alice and brothers Andrew, Jim, Ernest and Ed. Bob was married for 40 years to Doris Elizabeth Hammett who passed on in March of 1994. He served his country in the Armed Forces in the Regular Army division as a Corporal, during the Korean War. He also served St. Mary's County as a gifted musical entertainer for 50 years. As a young father of seven he worked hard as an Auto-Mechanic for Buick and Ford shops in N. E. Washington, DC and finished his career at Pete Cataldo's Mobil station in Bowie. He spent his weekends sharing his love of country music with family, friends and followers. Later, he worked with the Amish community delivering their wonderfully hand crafted furniture, stylish mini barns and gazebos. He took great pleasure in making new friends and bringing happiness, laughter and heart-felt memories to people through the power of music and his witty personality. As Bob moves on from family, friends and let's not forget, Jim Beam, I think he'd like to say, "Ernest," Can you blow that whistle one more time?" The dance floor is empty and it's all mine. "Now this bad boy's got good things on his mind." I've sang for "Paul Jones", and those "Good Ole Butter Beans." Now Doris is waiting to have the last waltz with me. Bob's children would like to thank you all for making his dreams in life so fulfilling. And a special thanks to Andy and Liz for being there, and family and friends that visited with him during these last few months. His path in life joined him with many life-long friendships and we would like to acknowledge you all with a warm thank you. The family received friends on Monday, August 23 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, August 24 in Our Lady's Catholic Church with Rev. John Berry officiating. Interment followed in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Michael Norris, Michael Wesolowski, Charles Carter, Tony Norris, Italo Manrique and Andy Norris. Honorary Pallbearer was Paul Colona. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's County, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, Maryland 20650.
