Services: A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 7 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private. Visitation: Public Viewing will be Thursday, July 29, 2004, from 5-8 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. J. Edward Lyday, 76, of Lusby, MD, formerly of Landover Hills, MD, died on July 25, 2004 in Calvert Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Blanche Irene (Yeo) Lyday and father to the late Linda Rae (Richardson) Crutchfield. He is survived by a son, William David Eglinton and daughter-in-law Sharon Smith Eglinton of Piney Point, MD. He was the brother of the late Billy Lyday of Dallas, Texas and is brother-in-law to Mrs. Bill Lyday. He is also survived by his nephew, Bill R. Lyday, Jr. of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Lyday is survived by his grandchildren, Wanda Richardson Hoath; Tara Richardson; Katrina Smith Davis; Colby Eglinton and Ryan Eglinton and great-grandchildren Ashley Hoath, Beverly Hoath, Shelley Hoath, Marcy Hoath and Kelsey Eglinton. "Ed" Lyday was a WWII U. S. Navy Disabled Veteran and also retired from the International Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union (AFL-CIO). Ed and Blanche moved to Calvert County in 1970 so they could garden and enjoy the local fishing and crabbing. Ed loved spending time with his good friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 29, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown, MD where a Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lanny Clarke officiating.
