Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 1st in Our Lady's Catholic Church Leonardtown, MD at 10 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 30th from 5 - 8 PM in the Funeral Home with Prayers being said at 7 PM. Frederick "Freddie" Thomas Moreland, 79, of Leonardtown, MD died on September 27, 2004 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born July 1, 1925 in Mechanicsville, MD he was the son of the late Mary Agnes Countiss and Fred A. Moreland. He was the loving husband of Alice Veronica Barnes Moreland who he married on April 5, 1968 in Our Lady's Catholic Church in Leonardtown, MD. He is survived by his daughter Darlene Barnes of Clinton, MD, sisters Audrey Foster, Madeline Reavis and Jane Curtis of New York, Florence McEwen of Port Tobacco, MD, brother Joseph Moreland of New York, grandchild Adrian Thompson and great grandchild Kennedy Thompson. He was preceded in death by his sisters Agnes Butler and Elizabeth Jones and brothers John Moreland, Lawrence Moreland and James Moreland. Mr. Moreland attended Mechanicsville High School and was a life long St. Mary's County resident. He worked as a self employed Professional Truck Driver for 25 years and also served in the U.S. Army from 1944 â?? 1955. His duty stations were Ft. Eustis, VA, Europe, Japan and Ft. Meyers, VA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 30 from 5 â?? 8 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with prayers being said at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 1 in Our Lady's Catholic Church in Leonardtown, MD at 10 AM with Father John Barry officiating and Deacon Tom Spalding co-officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Butler, Mark Curtis, Arnold Moreland, Kent Moreland, Kevin Moreland and Ronald Moreland.
