Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 2, 2004 in Holy Face Catholic Church in Great Mills, MD at 10 AM with Father Joseph Sileo officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 5 - 8 PM with Prayers being said at 7 PM. Frances Mary Owens, 76, of Callaway, MD died September 28, 2004 in Washington, DC. Born May 1, 1928 in Leonardtown, MD she was the daughter of the late Leonard Cecil Russell, Sr. and Susie Mae Bowles Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Owens, Sr., whom she married on April 29, 1950 in St. John's Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Cecil Russell, Jr. Mrs. Owens is survived by her children James Allen Owens, Jr. of Hollywood, MD, Frankie Calvert and Maggie LaDuca of Callaway, MD, Shirley Culbreth of Horseheads, NY, and Linda Smith of Roanoke, VA. and seven grandchildren. She was a life long St. Mary's County resident and a graduate of the Nazareth Academy Class of 1947. She was a homemaker. Prayers will be said on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mrs. Owens will be Bob LaDuca, Charles Smith, Tyrone Fenwick, Joel LaDuca, Jimmy Stanley and Larry Russell.
