A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
Public Viewing will be held in the funeral home on Friday, October 15 from 5 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM.
Clarence "Pop" Aloysius Vallandingham, 80, of Helen, MD died on October 12, 2004 in Leonardtown, MD. Born August 1, 1924 in Chaptico, MD he was the son of the late Bessie May Quade and William Lawrence Vallandingham. He was the loving husband of Agnes Mildred Vallandingham, who he married on November 29, 1974 in St. John's Church. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Claire Nelson of Clements, MD, grandchildren Theresa Palmer, Shelly Owen, Parran Nelson and Nick Nelson and great-grandchildren Ryan Palmer, Cassie Nelson and Morgan Nelson. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Luke Ferguson, brothers John, Lawrence "Willie", Clyde, Parron, Henry, Edward and Francis and sister Elizabeth Hall. Mr. Vallandingham attended Margaret Brent High School and was a life long St. Mary's County resident. He worked as a Dispatcher for Thrift Oil Company. He loved to spend time with his family and friends; he was the manager of a baseball team and loved to dance. The family will receive friends today Friday, October 15 from 5 â?? 8 PM, in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, with prayers being said at 7 PM. Pallbearers will be Bobby Cusic, Joe Vallandingham, J.C. Vallandingham, Frankie Vallandingham, Dallis Hill and George Payne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Parran Nelson, Sandy Nelson, Ryan Palmer, Theresa Palmer, Shelly Owen, Nick Nelson and Phyllis Copsey.
