Services:
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at 10:00 AM in Christ Episcopal Church in Chaptico, MD with Rev. William J. Neat Officitating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
Public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 from 4 - 8 PM with prayers being held at 7:00 PM.
Luke Eugene Lyon, 80, of Budds Creek, MD formerly of Bel Alton, MD died on October 16, 2004 in Budds Creek, MD. Born May 16, 1924 in Budds Creek, MD, he was the daughter of the late Annie Zora Oliver Lyon and Mushaw Lyon. He was the loving husband to Thelma Janis Hardesty Lyon whom he married on November 8, 1947 in Chaptico, MD. He is survived by his children Janice Pilkerton and Debra Gray both of Budds Creek, MD and Michael Lyon of Clements, MD. He is also survived by his sister Marjorie Sterling of White Plains, MD; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lyon graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1940. He was born in St. Mary's County, lived in Charles for 52 years and then returned to St. Mary's County. He worked as a Farmer until his retirement in 1999. He belonged to the Bel Alton Volunteer Fire Department and the Charles County Farm Bureau. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19 from 4 â?? 8 PM with prayers being said at 7 PM and Fire Department prayers at 7:10 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 20 at 10 AM in Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. William J. Neat officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Pilkerton, Jimmy Pilkerton, Jason Lyon, Alan Bowling, Francis Tippett and Ronnie Lyon. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Oliver, Oliver Lyon, Roger Oliver, Hugh Sterling, Hoover Thompson, Sr., Dennis Getty and Jake Pilkerton. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O.
