Services: Service will be held in St. Matthew's Free Gospel Church, Leonardtown, MD on Friday, December 3 at 10 AM with Pastor Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery, Valley Lee, MD. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, December 2 from 6 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 7 PM. Lessie Rebecca Dyson Smith, 87, of Drayden, MD died on November 26, 2004 in St. Mary's Hospital. Born April 23, 1917 in Drayden, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lettie Bell Whalen Dyson. She was preceded in death by her husband Allie Fergerson Smith, Jr. She is survived by her son Clarence Carroll Smith and his wife Rossetta; six grandchildren; Thomas Saxon, Patricia Gray, Clara Brooks, John Smith, Timothy Smith and Phyllis Smith; thirteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; two sisters Catherine Clay and Isabel Waters and a host of other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Frank L. Dyson and James H. Dyson; sister; M. Margaret Cutchember and one granddaughter; Thomasine E. Thompson. She was educated at the Drayden School on Cherryfield Road and was also an active member of St. Matthews Free Gospel Church, Leonardtown, MD. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 2 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 6 â?? 8 PM with prayers being said at 7 PM.
