Born June 29, 1921 in Washington, DC he was the son of the late Reuben Athey and Daisy Estelle Mattingly Turlington. He is survived by his son: Thomas Richard Turlington and his wife Jennifer of Myersville, MD; brother: Athey Donald Turlington and his wife Betty of Lady Lake, FL; sister in-law: Mamie Turlington of Waldorf, MD and 3 grandchildren: Alan, Shena and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his son: Joseph Michael Turlington; siblings: Helen Kellis and James Douglas Turlington. Mr. Turlington moved to St. Mary's County in 1975 from Rockville, MD.He worked as a contract specialist for Defense Mapping until his retirement in 1975. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Pacific Campaign from August 29, 1942 â?? October 7, 1945. He was a member of General McArthur's staff. He also was a member of AARP. He enjoyed reading and fishing. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 11, 2006 from 4:00 â?? 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A., 41590 Fenwick St. Leonardtown, MD 20650 where Prayers will be said at 5:00 PM.
