Services: A Mass of Chrisian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Msgr. John Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Visitation: A public visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday, January 24, 2005 from 5 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. John Stanley Hewitt, Sr., 71, of Avenue, MD died January 20, 2005 in Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, Maryland. Born January 01, 1934 in Medley's Neck, MD he was the son of Hiram and Madeline Long Hewitt. He was the loving husband of Shirley Marie Hewitt. He is survived by his children, John Stanley Hewitt, Jr. of Colton's Point, MD, Freddie Hewitt of Compton, MD, Carl Wayne Hewitt of Mechanicsville, MD, Keith Hewitt and Bobby Hewitt both of Avenue, MD and 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph Hewitt of Avenue, MD and Ben Hewitt of Bushwood, MD and his sisters, Ruby Cheseldine of Bushwood, MD, Pearl Long of Temple Hills, MD and Frances Ruark of Fruitland, MD. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Hewitt and Freddie Hewitt and his sisters, Helen Ruark and Hilda Richardson. Mr. Hewitt was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident who worked in Building Maintenance for the St. Mary's County Government until his retirement in September, 1988. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 24, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 5-8 PM with Prayers at 7:00 PM and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church with Msgr. John Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for Mr. Hewitt will be Ralph Moran, John Hewitt III, Jonathan Hewitt, Dale Hewitt, Eddie Hewitt and Brandon Hewitt.
