Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD, with Fr. Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Public visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 from 4 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Helen Theresa Bowles, 78, of Loveville, MD formerly of Washington DC died February 7, 2005 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born June 23, 1926 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late Mary A. Crown and Elmer Joseph Graves. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard T. Bowles, Sr. in Loveville, MD on April 11, 1985 whom she married on November 4, 1952 in St. Joseph's Church Washington, DC. She is survived by her children; Leonard T. "Tommy" Bowles, Jr. of Loveville, MD and Michael B. Bowles of Clements, MD, sister; Margaret M. Johnson of Morganza, MD, grandchildren; Nancy Hill of California, MD, Trey Bowles, Derrick Bowles and Dillon Bowles all of Clements, MD and great grandchildren; Kassidy Wallace of California, MD and Carlee Bowles of Clements, MD. She was also preceded in death by her brother; James "Frank" Graves. Mrs. Bowles graduated from Notre Dame, Washington, DC in 1944. She moved to St. Mary's County in 1952 from Washington, DC, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Bascom Brovin Accounting for 30 years. She also worked for Ziner Tax Services and Guy Distributing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching TV. The family will receive friends today Wednesday, February 9 from 4 â?? 8 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with prayers being said at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10 at 10 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Leonard "Trey" Bowles, Jr., Derrick Bowles, Jimmy Bowles, James "Sonny" Johnson, Jr., James "Buddy" Mattingly and Ricky Hancock. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650 and/or Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 299, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
