Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 17 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Father Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 16 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with prayers being said at 6:30 PM. Joseph Calvin Lacey, 75, of Chaptico, MD died March 14, 2005 in Chaptico, MD. Born March 22, 1929 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Mary Ada Quade and Walter Benjamin Lacey. He was the loving husband of Sylvia Marie Dean Lacey whom he married on July 5, 1954 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD. He is survived by his son J.D. Lacey and his wife Joann of Loveville, MD; brothers: John W. Lacey, Aloysius Lacey and Melvin Lacey all of Chaptico, MD and granddaughter: Kimberly Lacey. He was preceded in death by his brother: Leonard Lacey and sister: Elsie Morgan. Mr. Lacey attended Sacred Heart School. He was a life long St. Mary's County resident where he worked as a Star Route Mail Carrier, driver for Bay Gas Co., a Farmer and a Seafood Clerk for Giant Food until his retirement in 1994. He was also a life time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His hobbies were gardening, fishing and crabbing. The family received friends Wednesday, March 16 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, March 17 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Francis Early officiating. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Dean, Bubby Norris, Bennie Combs, Steven Lacey, Charlie Lacey and Brian Lacey. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
