Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13 at 10:00 AM in St. John's Catholic Church with Father Raymond Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing will be held in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12 with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Catherine Bernadette Greenwell, 86, of Hollywood, MD died April 8, 2005 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born February 20, 1919 in Hurry, MD she was the daughter of the late Julia Ann Goode Hill and John Frank Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband James Wilson Greenwell, Sr. whom she married on August 23, 1938 in St. John's Catholic Church. She is survived by her children: James Greenwell, Jr. of Leonardtown, MD and Mary Catherine "Kitty" Bowles of Hollywood, MD: special nephew: Frankie Greenwell of Mechanicsville, MD; sister: Lucille Davis of Fillmore, CA; grandchildren: Freddie Bowles, Jr., Allan Bowles, Debbie Woodburn, Randy Bowles, Wayne Bowles, Lisa Alvey, April Bowles, Todd Greenwell and Scott Greenwell; great grandchildren: Freddie Bowles, III, Joseph Bowles, Shannon Bowles, Stevie Bowles, Stacey Bowles, Jenifer Woodburn, Davie Woodburn, Kenny Woodburn, Melanie Bowles, Tracey Bowles, Taylor Bowles, Katelyn Alvey, Michelle King and Tommy King and great-great grandchildren: Cassie Derrick and Kameron Rice. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Mable Wood, Helen Pingleton, Marie Abell, Evelyn Burroughs, Estelle Russell and Theresa Greenwell; brothers: Lewis Hill, Elmer Hill, Wilmer Hill, Warren Hill and half-brother: Edgar Thompson. Ms. Greenwell was a life long St. Mary's County resident where she worked as a waitress in Leonardtown, MD and a homemaker. Her hobbies were gardening and her love for animals and music. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 12th from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM.
