Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 10:00 AM in St. John Regis Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD with Father Raymond Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
Public Viewing & Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2005 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM
Robert Lee "Bob" Jackson, 82, of California, MD died September 8, 2005 in Bayside Nursing Center, Lexington, Park, MD with his sons and grandson by his side. Born November 25, 1922 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Richard and Ada Dean Jackson. He is survived by his sons, James B. Jackson of California, MD and Joseph C. Jackson of Lexington Park, MD and three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one step grandson and three step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Carrol of Lexington Park, MD and his brothers, George Jackson of West Virginia and Raymond Jackson of Deale, MD. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise A. Jackson, whom he married in St. Aloysius Church in Leonardtown, Maryland on February 22, 1946. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Bailey, Ada Leedy, Lillian Jackson, Richard Jackson, Joseph Jackson, Thomas Jackson, Frances Dickerson, John Jackson, Paul Jackson, Bernadette Jackson, Margret Ries, Thelma Lowe, Mildred Jackson and Bernard Jackson. Mr. Jackson moved to St. Mary's County in 1946 from Washington, D.C. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged after two years. He was employed as a Plumber for the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River, Maryland for 37 years until his retirement on January 4, 1980. Mr. Jackson was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and enjoyed Antique Cars as a hobby. The family received friends on September 12, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on September 13, 2005 in St. John Regis Catholic Church officiated by Father Raymond Schmidt. Interment followed in St. John Regis Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Jackson were Joseph C. Jackson, Joseph C. Jackson, Jr., James B. Jackson, James B. Jackson, Jr., George McKay and Chuck Jackson.
