Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Visitation: Public viewing will be held in the funeral home on Monday, October 24, 2005 from 4 - 8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Ignatius Stillman Mattingly, 84, of Charlotte Hall, MD died October 20, 2005 in Charles County Nursing Home. Born July 28, 1921 in Abell, MD he was the son of the late William "Havie" and Agnes Madeline Mattingly. He was preceded in death by his wife whom he was married to for 56 wonderful years Leah Elizabeth Gibson Mattingly, on June 14, 1999 in St. Mary's Hospital. He is survived by his children: Rev. John S. Mattingly, Betty Fairall and Michael F. Mattingly, Sr.; brother and sister: Lewis B. and Patsy Martin; grandchildren: Paul Warren and Leah Sneden both of Laurel, MD, Michael Mattingly, Jr. of Frederick, MD and Vicki Mattingly of Mt. Airy, MD; great grandchildren: Jacob Sneden and Layla Sneden both of Laurel, MD. He is also preceded in death by his brothers: Haverman "Bud" Mattingly and Francis Mattingly. Mr. Mattingly served for 4 years in WWII with the U.S. Coast Guard where he received the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the catholic faith and a holder of an AARP private pilot certificate. His love war a good game of poker and flying his small air craft. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 24, 2005 from 4:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Masses of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Pallbearers will be Ken Cardinale, Tom Chaney, Paul Warren, Michael Mattingly, Jr., Ronnie Mattingly and Greg Mattingly.
