Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside with Father John P. Stack officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing & Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. Thelma Eileen "Nana" Tennyson, 89, of Clements, MD died October 31, 2005 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born November 3, 1915 in Bushwood, MD she was the daughter of the late James Oakley and Gertrude Buckler Tippett. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond F. Tennyson, Sr. He is survived by her children: Raymond F. Tennyson, Jr. and M. Joyce Green both of Mechanicsville, MD, James O. Tennyson and M. Alberta Bowling both of Chaptico, MD, Catherine P. Bowling of Charlotte Hall, MD, Dorothy A. Guy of Oakley, MD and Franklin D. Tennyson of Clements, MD; brother: Bernard Tippett of Waldorf, MD and sister: Barbara Ann Lumpkins of Abell, MD; 32 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her children: Betty A. Tennyson, Jean G. Langley and Robert M. Tennyson; brothers and sisters: Louise Muzall, Bernadette Simpson, Irving Tippett, Dennis Tippett, Archie Tippett, Doris Burkhart, Margaret Combs, Elizabeth Lee Tippett and Elwood Tippett. Nana loved family gatherings especially picnics at the cottage, the annual fishing derby and the holidays. She loved playing cards and was "Best cook in the county" The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church with Father John Stack officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Tennyson, James C. Langley, Jr., Mary Jo Sargent, Jeff Bowling, Jamie Tennyson, Howie Guy, Gary Bowling and Timmy Tennyson. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the 7th District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 7, Avenue, MD 20609 and/or Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
