A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 5, 2005 at 11 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with interment to follow in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hollywood, MD.
Visitation:
Viewing and Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2005 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM.
Mary Lillian Hayden Miedzinski, 94, of Leonardtown died November 1, 2005, at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. Born November 26, 1910, in Leonardtown, she was one of seven children born to Thomas Leonard Hayden and Margaret Jane Abell Hayden. Mrs. Miedzinski was the wife of the late Robert Miedzinski, who preceded her in death on December 10, 1997, whom she married on December 28, 1927, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD. Mrs. Miedzinski is survived by her children, Robert Leonard Miedzinski, Sr. and his wife Susan, James Francis Miedzinski, Mary Lillian "Pritzi" (Klear) Ely and her husband Ron, Roberta Ann Dooley and her husband Roy, Jane Marie Bussler and her husband Roger, Ruth Helena "Dolly" Abell and her husband David â?? all of whom live in Leonardtown; and Phyllis Elinor Miedzinski of Lexington Park. Two of her children, William Benedict Miedzinski and Charles Vernon Miedzinski, also preceded her in death. She had a total of 29 grandchildren, 2 of whom are deceased, and 45 great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are William T. Hayden of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Helen L. Abell of Muirkirk, MD and her siblings who preceded her in death include Catherine C. Burch, C. Richard Hayden, Charles C. Hayden and John F. Hayden. Mrs. Miedzinski was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department, having served terms during her active years of membership as president and treasurer. She was also a member of the St. Mary's County Democrat Club. For a number of years she and her husband owned and operated the Leonardtown Motel until its sale in June 1981. Through the years her hobbies included, among other things, sewing and embroidery. Town residents still remember her for her daily walks to the post office to pick up her mail and around town visiting the merchants at the various stores and shops. She worked side by side with her husband of over 69 years through all of his business ventures as his accountant, his business partner, his helpmate and his lifemate until his death in 1997. Her grandchildren and her great grandchildren were the light of her life. The family received friends on Friday, November 4th at the Mattingly-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown, MD, where prayers were said by Reverend John S. Mattingly. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church, also in Leonardtown, on Saturday, November 5th, at 11:00 A.M., with the Reverend John Dakes officiating. Interment followed at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Cemetery in Hollywood, MD. Pallbearers for Mrs. Miedzinski included 8 of her grandsons: David Miedzinski, Larry Miedzinski, Randy Miedzinski, Mark Miedzinski, Kerry Klear, George Bussler, Brian Abell and Johnny Miedzinski. Tributes were delivered during the Mass of Christian Burial by her granddaughter Mary Ann Jarczynski and her grandson Bobby Miedzinski with the remaining granddaughters and grandsons participating during the Mass as soloist, lectors and bearers of the pall and the gifts.
