Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church officiated by Father Mike Dolan. Visitation: Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. Mary Jane "Dipsy" Briscoe, 66, of Lexington Park, MD died May 14, 2005 at her residence. Born July 5, 1938 in Palmers, MD she was the daughter of Catherine Cecelia Jones Short and the step-daughter of the late William Short. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Briscoe, whom she married in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on August 5, 1978. She is survived by her children: Carl T. Jones, Monica R. Jones and Terrance A. Jones all of Lexington Park, MD; Colleen K. Petersen of Fayetteville, NC; and, Gregory C. Jones of Great Mills, MD. Mrs. Briscoe is also survived by her siblings: Shirley A. Short, Catherine P. Washington and James A. Short all of Oakley, MD; and, Grace M. Short of Lexington Park, MD. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Briscoe was a homemaker and a life-long St. Mary's County resident. The family received friends on May 19, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 20, 2005, at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Lexington Park, MD with Father Mike Dolan officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Lexington Park, MD. Pallbearers for Mrs. Briscoe will be Arthur Short, John Tyer, Raphael Short, George Holley, Paul Thompson, Jr. and Lydell Short. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnnie Jenkins, Jr., ReJon Briscoe, Chavis Briscoe, Andrae Briscoe, Gregory Jones, Jr. and James Mack, Jr. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P. O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650 and/or American Cancer Society, St. Mary's County Unit, P. O. Box 1032, Lexington Park, MD 20653. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A
