Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady's Catholic Church, 41410 Medley's Neck Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650 with Father William Berry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing & Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2005 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM Francis "Frank" Alexander Barnes, 85, of Leonardtown, MD died September 24, 2005 in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD. Born April 1, 1920 in Leonardtown, MD he was the son of the late James Rhody and Alice Gertrude Potete Barnes. He is survived by his daughter Theresa Greenwell of Bryans Road, MD, brother and sisters Catherine Eva Dorsey of Dowell, MD, Christine Edwards and Peter C. Barnes both of Baltimore, MD and Alice V. Moreland of Leonardtown, MD. He is preceded in death by his siblings James Andrew Barnes, W. Rhody Barnes, Nettie Green and Gertrude Johnson. Mr. Barnes was a life long St. Mary's County resident where he received his education through the St. Mary's County School System. He worked as a construction worker and also served in the U.S. Army for 3 years from 1943 â?? 1946. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon. His hobbies were gardening, carpentry and reading. The family received friends on Thursday, September 29, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady's Catholic Church, Medley's Neck. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lester Barnes, Andrew Courtney, James Goldring, Joseph Milburn, Robert Moseley and Frank Travers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Timothy Goldring and Rudolph Greene.
