Mary Rainwater Copsey

Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Visitation: Public Viewing & Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM Mary Rainwater Copsey, 76, of Mechanicsville, MD died on June 27, 2005 in Leonardtown, MD. Born July 7, 1928 in Douglas, GA, she was the daughter of the late Merriel Delvis and Bessie Logan Rainwater. She is survived by her companion, Eugene Copsey and her children, Irene Hill and spouse Jimmy of Chaptico, MD; Joyce Alvey and spouse Roger of Mechanicsville, MD; Bernice Newton of Mechanicsville, MD; Wayne Copsey and spouse Judy of Mechanicsville, MD; Elaine Erskine of Mechanicsville, MD; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Copsey of Mechanicsville, MD, wife of her deceased son, Dagger Copsey. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Moran. Mrs. Copsey worked as a switchboard telephone operator and was one of the original founders of Copsey's Seafood Restaurant in Mechanicsville, MD. The family received friends on June 29, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home and a Funeral Service was conducted on Thursday, June 30, 2005 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Peter Alliata officiating. Interment followed in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for Mrs. Copsey were Tim Hill, Robbie Newton, Billy Copsey, Ryan Erskine, Debbie Bohle and Jenny Copsey.
