Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Keith Woods officiating and Father Damian Shadwell co- officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. Visitation: Public Viewing & Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2005 from 4:30 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. John Webster "Johnnie" Ridgell, 79, of Clements, MD formerly of St. James, MD died July 17, 2005 in Clements, MD. Born June 13, 1926 in St. Inigoes, MD he was the son of the late Edward Leo and Julia Ada Pegg Ridgell. He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Louise Ridgell on February 12, 2001 whom he married in St. James Church on June 28, 1952. He is survived by his children: Betty Lou Nelson and her husband Ken of Chaptico, MD and Shirley A. Norris and her husband Troy of Hollywood, MD; grandchildren: Dale Pilkerton, Jr., Rachel Pilkerton, Andy Nelson and Emily Nelson; great grandchildren: Timmy Pilkerton and Alicia Pilkerton and sister: Mildred A. Carroll of Hyattsville, MD. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Myrtle E. Mayor, Theodore T. Ridgell, Susette C. Dunbar, Viola A. Carroll, Bertha M. Bradburn, Edna A. Carroll, Madeline A. Cullison and Leon E. Ridgell. Mr. Ridgell was a life long St. Mary's County resident, where he worked as an electrician for the Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD until his retirement July of 1973. He served in the United States Army from February 22, 1945 until November 13, 1946. He enjoyed fishing. The family received friends on Thursday, July 21, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 10:00 AM in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, St. Mary's City, MD with Father Keith Woods officiating and Father Damian Shadwell co- officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Dameron, MD. Pallbearers will be Ken Nelson, Troy Norris, Dale Pilkerton, Jr., Ronnie Ridgell, George Hall and Georgie Hall.
