Prayers will be said on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 3:00 PM in the Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2005 at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Richard Rollins officiatin.
Visitation:
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, July 24, 2005 in the Funeral Home from 2 - 5 PM.
Lydia Esther Whorl, 80, of Lexington Park, MD formerly of Havertown, PA died July 20, 2005 in St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Born October 24, 1924 in Providence, RI she was the daughter of the late William Henry of Providence, RI and Gertrude Amelia Cobb Perry of Foxboro, Mass. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon L. Whorl in Lexington Park, MD on May 13, 1996 whom she married in Towson, MD on July 9, 1949. She is survived by her children: Sharon Fedders of Columbia, TN, Stephen Whorl of Abell, MD, Patricia Whorl and Jeffrey Whorl both of Lexington Park, MD; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Gertrude Tempest, William Perry, Gordon Marquese, Leonard Perry and George Perry. Ms Whorl graduated from Lower Marion Senior High School Class of 1942. She moved to St. Mary's County in 1950 from York, PA, where she worked at St. Mary's County Board of Education as a secretary for 19 years until her retirement in 1987. The family received friends on Sunday, July 24, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Funeral Service was held Monday, July 25, 2005 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Rollins officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Matthew Fedders, Michael Fedders, Brian Fedders, Thomas Whorl, Tim Bussard, Blaine Whorl, Sandro Reyez and Jim Kopel. Honorary Pallbearers were Stephen Whorl, Jeffrey Whorl, Mark Fedders and Richard Rollins. Contributions may be made to OPIS (Out Patient Infusion Services) at St. Mary's Hospital, 25500 Point Lookout Road, P.O.
