Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 9:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Laurel Grove Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006 from 5 - 8 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home with Prayers being said at 7 PM Mary Erva "Hubbard" Hancock, 78 of Hollywood, MD died April 18, 2006 in St. Mary's Hospital. Born October 20, 1927 in Leonardtown, MD she was the daughter of the late James Earl and Alice Maude Van Wart Curry. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Hurbert Hancock, Sr., whom she married in St. John's Church on November 4, 1945. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Tweet & Winks Pilkerton of California, MD, Alice & David Gray, and Calvin & Annette Hancock both of Mechanicsville, MD, Alvin & Sandy Hancock of Leonardtown, MD, Patty & Jimmy Wood of Avenue, MD, Joe & Pam Hancock and Lenny & Glenda Hancock both of Hollywood, MD and Shelia & Darren Smith of Lexington Park, MD, sister: Hope Daniels of Pearl, MS; 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her long time companion Larry Beyer. She was preceded in death by her children: Norman Hancock, Jr. and Darlene Snellings and her sisters: Ruth Alvey and Dorthy Newton. Mrs. Hancock was a life long St. Mary's County resident where she graduated from St. John's School. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones. Prayers will be said in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home on Friday, April 21, 2006, at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Eamon Dignan officiating, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 9:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Philip Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Laurel Grove, MD. Pallbearers will be James Alvey, Billy Alderman, Tom Chedester, Norman Buckler, Winks Pilkerton and Mike Guy. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Hollywood Vol. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 79, Hollywood, MD 20636 and/or Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
