A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM in St. George's Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ervin officiating. Inurnment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens.
Lawrence Patrick "L.P." Malone, Sr., 65 of California, MD formerly of Dickinson, ND died May 29, 2006 in California, MD. Born January 1, 1941 in Dickinson, ND he was the son of the late Edward Vern and Mary Zastoupil Malone. He was the loving husband of Jane Highfill Malone whom he married on November 29, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his children: Lance Malone and his wife Deanna of Concord, CA, Lawrence P. Malone, Jr., Landre Malone and his wife Trish all of San Diego, CA; step children: Harriet Brunner of Crofton, MD, Lark Willis of South Point, OH and Butch Butler of Lusby, MD; brothers and sisters: Edward Malone of Millcreek, WA, Kathleen Malone of Lynnwood, WA, Mary Jane of Fnohomish, WA, Peggy Hart of Lake Oswego, OR and Joan Malone of Eugene, OR and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother: Dennis Malone and sister: Molly Malone. Mr. Malone graduated from Dickinson High School Class of 1959. He moved to St. Mary's County in 1995 from Cypress, CA. He worked at A.S.T.L. as a coordinator in the Deck & Engine Dept. for 5 ½ years. He also served in the U.S. Navy for 29 ½ years. His decorations were as follows: Navy commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal Fourth Award, 08 Aug 74, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal (2 bronze stars), Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM in St. George's Catholic Church with Fr. John Mattingly officiating. Inurnment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens.
