Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 9th, 2007 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Fr. John Stack officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, October 8th, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM with Fr. Timothy Baer officiating. Mary Agnes Hill, 93, of Chaptico, MD died October 4, 2007 in Civista Medical Center, LaPlata, MD. Born June 16, 1914 in Prince Frederick, MD she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Alvey and Frances Genevieve Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow W. Hill, Sr., whom she married on November 3, 1940 in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD. She is survived by her children Woodrow W. Hill, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX, Allen H. Hill and Patrick E. Hill both of Chaptico, MD, Martha Wheeler of Bushwood, MD and W. Michael Hill of Hollywood, MD as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Robert Preston Alvey, Joseph Bernard Alvey, Allen Uriah Alvey and Frances Lillian Alvey. She graduated from Margaret Brent High School and was a cafeteria worker at Chopticon High School for 15 years until her retirement in 1980. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 8, 2007 from 5 – 8 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Fr. John P. Stack officiating and Fr. Timothy Baer co-officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be John David Beavan, Jr, Sammy Knott, Joseph “Mussie” Mattingly, Timmy Quade, Donnie Hill and Stevie Hill. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerome Fenwick, Debbie Chalupa, Mary Ann Jetton, James “Bootsie” Wheeler, Sandy Line, Henry Hill, Stevie Hill, Laura Hill, Billy Hill, Donnie Hill, Patrick Hill and Rebecca Bowser. Contributions may be made the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 7, Avenue, Maryland 20609.

Thanksgiving and Christmas at her house were always special and the games of pitch played by our relatives were legendary. I will always treasure those memories as part of a past I am blessed to carry with me all of my days. My sincerest condolences to the family. My prayers are with you.”
