Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation: Viewing/Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. James Walter “Snubbs” Butler, Sr., 61, of Bushwood, MD died November 18, 2007 at Clinton Nursing Center. Born August 28, 1946 in Bushwood, MD he was the son of the late Arthur Aloysius and Grace Helen Bowman Butler. He was the loving husband of the late Alice Ann Miles Butler whom he married on June 21, 1969 in Sacred Heart Church. He is survived by his children; Cynthia Butler of Capitol Heights, MD, James Butler Jr. of Lusby, MD, Alecia Butler of Rocky Mount, NC, Barbara Riegle of Frederick, MD and Charles Carter of Lexington Park, MD as well as his grandchildren Windell and Juvan Withers of Capitol Heights, MD. He is also survived by his siblings: Francis A. Butler and Grace H. Butler, both of Lexington Park, MD, Arthur J. Butler of Oxon Hill, MD, Clearance J. Butler of Mechanicsville, MD, Ann E. Butler of Washington, DC and Constance D. Willis of Woodbridge, VA. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, he attended Banneker High School and after being enlisted in the U.S. Army for 11 years, he was employed as a Security Guard at various locations. He enjoyed telling stories and always had a joke to tell. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 9:00-10:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Miles, Vincent Riegle, Charles Butler, Edmond Armstrong, Dennis Butler and Ricky Herbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Butler, James Thomas, Aaron Butler, Timothy Butler, Delgado Butler, Delonte Butler, Marcus Jones and Francis Jones, Jr. Arrangements provided by Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A.
