Services: A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, California, MD with Rev. Shearon Sykes-Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. Delma Lenore Bennett, 91, of Leonardtown, MD died December 11, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born January 4, 1917 in Drayden, MD she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Louise Adams Milburn. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas Washington Bennett whom she married in St. George’s Episcopal Church in 1949 and who preceded her in death on August 9, 1974. She is survived by her children; Louise Blanche Bennett of Towson, MD, Stephen Richard Bennett of Mechanicsville, MD, Ruth Delma Bennett of Houston, TX and Robert Henry Bennett of Leonardtown, MD as well as her sisters Virginia Stone of Medley’s Neck, MD, Elizabeth Johnson of Leonardtown, MD and Charlotte Bennett of Lusby, MD, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Oliver Bennett and her siblings; Harvey, Stephen, James, Robert and Elliott Milburn. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, Delma graduated from Great Mills High School “Class of 1935”. She was a homemaker who loved gardening and her flowers. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 15, 2008 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, California, MD with Rev. Shearon Sykes-Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stephen Bennett, Robert Bennett, Tommy Bennett, William Ridgell, Bruce Milburn and Justin Bowers. Contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 44078 St. Andrew’s Church Road, California, MD 20619.
